Dr. Kobayashi received his veterinary degree from Nippon Veterinary and Animal Science University in 1994…Dr. Kobayashi received his veterinary degree from Nippon Veterinary and Animal Science University in 1994. He then studied at Purdue University followed by a residency program in medical oncology at North Carolina State University. He was board certified in oncology through the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2001. He is the first board certified oncologist in Japan. Dr. Kobayashi is currently working on Japan Small Animal Cancer Center as the chief director and seeing with approximately 700 new cases and 3,500 rechecks with his colleagues. He is also the director of Japan Veterinary Corporative Oncology Group (JVCOG) and organizing clinical trials to develop new cancer treatments. He is also interested in teaching and giving more than 150 continue educations every year for domestic and international veterinarians.

Dr.Yoko Fujii is a board certified veterinary cardiologist in Japan. She graduated from Azabu University in 1990, then studied at the Ohio State University and received Master of Science in 1993. She returned to Japan to continue expanding her experience and knowledge in the profession. She was interested in pathophysiology of the heart disease in dogs and received Ph.D. from Azabu University. After 11 years of practicing, she joined cardiology service at North Carolina State University as a cardiology resident, and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine since 2007. She is currently a professor in Azabu University, teaching veterinary cardiology as well as serving as a clinician and researcher. She is especially interested in interventional cardiology, and is passionate about helping animals and their families by providing professional care. Dr.Fujii has been involved in Japanese society of veterinary cardiology for many years on CE committees. Dr. Kyoung-won Seo received her veterinary degree from Chungnam National University (South Korea) in 2001 and gained a PhD in Veterinary Internal Medicine at Seoul National University (South Korea) in 2009. Dr. Jihjong Lee graduated from National Taiwan University in 1983. After mandatory military service, He was intrigued by cancer and was involved in cancer carcinogenesis research in the Department of Pathology in National Taiwan University Hospital. In 1987 he enrolled in the graduate program at the Department of Veterinary Pathology, Louisiana State University, and got his Master of Science degree in Veterinary Pathology in May 1990. After finishing his master’s, Dr. Lee moved to North Carolina State University and worked as a research associate involved in veterinary oncology, cancer diagnosis, and cancer clinical trials in the North Carolina Animal Cancer Treatment Program at College of Veterinary Medicine, North Carolina State University for five and a half years. In August 1996, he returned to Taiwan and became a clinical instructor in the Institute of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine, National Taiwan University. Dr. Lee continued clinical teaching and studied at National Taiwan University and got his Ph.D. in June 2011. Over the years, he has published several research articles on clinical cancer research. Dr. Lee serves as a clinical faculty of medical oncology in the teaching hospital. Since 2011, he established the animal cancer treatment center at NTUVH and has served as a director of ACTC. Dr. Lee’s main interests include small animal medical oncology, internal medicine, and clinical nutrition. In his leisure time, He enjoys traveling and photography.

Dr. Joseph Cyrus hails from southern India, Kerala where he received his Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry degree from the Kerala Agricultural University in 2007. He then pursed a Master of Veterinary Science in Veterinary Medicine from the Karnataka Veterinary Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, in 2009 with a Junior Research Fellowship from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. His research was gastro-esophageal disorders in dogs and cat. After about two years of specialty practice in Bangalore, India at Compassion Unlimited Plus Action Animal Hospital, he moved to pursue his Ph.D. and his specialty training (specialty internship and residency) in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the College of Veterinary and Biomedical Science at Texas A&M University. He was boarded with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2019. He worked as a small internist at VCA Alta Vista in Ottawa, Canada from 2018 to 2021. He intents to move to Edmonton, Canada to continue working as a small animal internist in the private practice setting and hopes to set up residency and continue small animal research with a focus in small animal gastroenterology.
Within the discipline of Internal Medicine, Dr. Cyrus has a special interest in gastroenterology, particularly the exocrine pancreas, and minimally invasive diagnostic procedures like endoscopy, after gastroenterology, he has a special interest in infectious diseases and also affections of the renal and urinary system.

Malaika Watanabe obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2001. She worked for a year as a demonstrator and research assistant at the parasitology laboratory of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM before furthering her studies. She joined the United Graduate School of Veterinary Sciences, Yamaguchi University in 2003 and graduated with a PhD degree in small animal internal medicine in 2006. Following her PhD, she was appointed visiting professor at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, Agricultural University Peshawar, Pakistan. She then joined the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM in 2008. She was promoted to Associate Professor at the Department of Companion Animal Medicine and Surgery, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM in 2012 where she is currently employed. She has over fifteen years of experience in small animal practice and is currently the head of unit of small animal medicine and consultant at the University Veterinary Hospital, UPM. Her research interest is canine and feline infectious diseases and she has pioneered molecular studies in vector-borne and parasitic diseases in Malaysia. She has been an invited speaker at various international and national conferences and seminars and is a founding member of the Tropical Council of Companion Animal Parasites (TroCCAP). She is currently actively involved in various collaborative research projects both nationally and internationally and has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals. She has also co-authored a book on cats.

Dr.Liu received her bachelor’s degree of veterinary medicine in China Agricultural University in 2008. During her undergraduate study, she developed a strong interest in small animal cardiology. In 2009 she went to the University of Edinburgh, UK and she did her PhD and post-doctoral there in canine mitral valve disease research. In 2016, she passed the MRCVS exams and qualified as a veterinary surgeon in the UK. From 2017-2019, she did a MVM program in cardiology at the University of Glasgow, where she gained advanced clinical training in small animal cardiology and also began to investigate novel biomarkers for feline cardiomyopathy. After finishing her MVM degree, she shortly worked at CVS Firstvets Bearsden in Glasgow city till late 2019. In 2020, she became a faculty of Veterinary Medicine Department, College of Animal Sciences and Technologies at Hainan University, China. Currently she is lecturing veterinary clinical courses for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. In the meantime, she is also active in training and supporting local veterinarians as well as giving lectures at national veterinary conferences in China. Her research interest is small animal cardiology, particularly in biomarker research for canine mitral valve disease and feline cardiomyopathy.

Right after gaining his BVM degree from Department of Veterinary Medicine, College of Agriculture, National Taiwan University, Dr. Yong-Wei Joey Hung passed National Board Exam in 1990. After a short practice in a private practice, he attended a one-year Intensive Post-graduate Training Program in the Animal Medical Center, New York in 1991. With great influence by Drs. Philip Fox, Si-Kuang Lu, and Robert Hamlin during his training in AMC, he then pursued his graduate study in veterinary physiology and pharmacology in the Ohio State University mentored by Dr. Hamlin. Referred by Dr. Hamlin, he then started his cardiology training in NC State University under the supervisions of Drs. Clarke Atkins and Bruce Keene after graduating from the OSU with a M.S. degree. Dr. Hung is also a board certified cardiologist by Asian College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (i.e. Diplomate, AiCVIM (Cardiology)).
After finishing his cardiology training, Dr. Hung started the first cardiology specialty practice in Taiwan. Knowing the importance of continuing education, he chartered Taiwan Academy of Veterinary Internal Medicine, now with more than 500 active members. Dr. Hung is also a well-known speaker in China, Malaysia, and other countries in Asia.
Despite his 6 days a week very busy practice as the only cardiologist in Taiwan, Dr. Hung still managed to spend time with his family. He is a proud son, father, and Husband. He likes to go biking when time permits.
